What does the 2018 Farm Bill have to do with hemp?
The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018, commonly known as the 2018 Farm Bill, significantly changed the landscape for hemp in the United States. Before this legislation, hemp was classified along with marijuana as a Schedule I controlled substance, essentially making it illegal.
However, the 2018 Farm Bill reclassified hemp, defining it as any part of the cannabis plant, including seeds and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, etc., with a THC concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis. This reclassification effectively made hemp and hemp-derived products legal at a federal level, provided they meet this THC concentration limit.
This legislation opened the door for the production, consumption, and sale of hemp-derived products, including those containing CBD. The 2018 Farm Bill was a significant step forward in recognizing hemp's potential as a sustainable and versatile crop, as well as the potential health benefits of hemp-derived products.
Achy Bones is proud to offer products that are in full compliance with this federal law, ensuring that all our products meet the required THC limit. We also adhere to all state laws and regulations in the locations we operate.
The 2018 Farm Bill does more than just legalize hemp. It also establishes a framework for the cultivation, production, and marketing of hemp, and outlines regulatory requirements for the sector. For more detailed information on the bill and its implications, you can read the full text here.
What's the difference between cannabis and hemp?
While both cannabis and hemp are part of the Cannabis Sativa family, they have distinct differences. The primary difference lies in their THC content. Hemp plants typically contain less than 0.3% THC, making them non-psychoactive, while cannabis plants often contain higher levels of THC, which is known for its psychoactive effects.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant. The most well-known among these compounds are CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). However, the cannabis plant contains hundreds of cannabinoids, each with its unique properties.
What are CBD and CBG?
Cannabidiol (CBD) and Cannabigerol (CBG) are non-psychoactive cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.
CBD is arguably the most well-known of these compounds. Research suggests that CBD may have several therapeutic properties, including potential anti-inflammatory, analgesic (pain-relieving), and anti-anxiety effects. This makes CBD potentially beneficial for a variety of conditions, from chronic pain and arthritis to anxiety and sleep disorders.
CBG, often referred to as the "mother of all cannabinoids," is less well-known than CBD but is gaining recognition for its potential health benefits. Early research suggests that CBG may have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic properties. It might also have neuroprotective properties, potentially helping to protect nerve cells against damage.
Our Achy Bones Relief Salve is a perfect example of harnessing the potential power of these cannabinoids. Infused with a potent combination of CBD and other beneficial ingredients, our salve aims to provide targeted relief for aches, pains, and inflammation. The rich blend of ingredients works synergistically to support your body's endocannabinoid system, potentially promoting better overall wellness and comfort.
Remember, while these potential benefits are promising, more research is needed to fully understand the therapeutic potential of CBD and CBG. Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new wellness product.
What is THC?
THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is a psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. It is responsible for the "high" sensation associated with marijuana. In our products, we use hemp-derived THC in compliance with federal law, which means it contains less than 0.3% THC.
What is Delta-9 THC?
Delta-9 is a specific form of THC known for its strong psychoactive effects. As per federal regulations, our hemp-derived products contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, ensuring they're non-intoxicating while still offering potential wellness benefits.
What are tinctures, topicals, and edibles?
Tinctures, topicals, and edibles represent different methods of consuming or applying CBD, each with its unique benefits.
Tinctures: Tinctures are liquid extracts of hemp, often combined with carrier oils like MCT or hemp seed oil to improve absorption. They are typically taken orally, either directly under the tongue (sublingually) or mixed with food or drink. Sublingual administration allows for quick absorption into the bloodstream, making the potential benefits of CBD more immediately noticeable. Achy Bones offers a variety of hemp tinctures, carefully formulated for maximum benefit.
Topicals: Topicals refer to products such as creams, salves, and lotions that are applied directly to the skin. They allow for targeted relief, as CBD and other beneficial compounds are absorbed directly into the affected area to help with discomfort, inflammation, or skin conditions. Achy Bones' Relief Salve is a perfect example, combining CBD, CBG, and a mix of soothing ingredients for a potent, skin-friendly formulation.
Edibles: Edibles are foods or beverages that have been infused with CBD or other cannabinoids. This can include products like gummies, chocolates, or teas. Edibles offer a tasty, convenient way to incorporate hemp into your wellness routine, although effects may take longer to manifest due to the digestive process. Achy Bones' future range of CBD-infused edibles will offer a delightful and approachable way to experience the potential benefits of hemp.
Each of these product types caters to different preferences and needs, enabling you to choose the method that fits best with your lifestyle and wellness goals. Check out our full collection of products to discover which might be the best fit for you.
Can pets use hemp products?
Yes, many pets can also experience the benefits of hemp-derived products, including CBD. Just as in humans, pets have an endocannabinoid system that interacts with cannabinoids like CBD, potentially promoting overall wellness and balance within their bodies.
However, pet owners should exercise caution when introducing hemp products to their pets' routines. Always choose products specifically formulated for pets, as they are designed with pets' specific needs and safety in mind.
Achy Bones offers a line of hemp pet products that are safe, natural, and crafted to meet the unique needs of your furry friends. Our pet products are made with the same care and quality as our human products, ensuring your pet gets only the best.
Just like humans, pets may experience benefits such as stress relief, joint mobility support, and improved overall wellness from these products. Nonetheless, it is always recommended to consult with a veterinarian before starting your pet on any new supplement regimen.
Be sure to start with a small dose and observe your pet's reaction before gradually increasing the dose if necessary. Check out our pet-friendly products to get started.
Remember, every pet is different, and what works well for one may not work as well for another. Always monitor your pet's response to any new product and consult your veterinarian with any concerns.
